Bulgarian army conducts exercise focusing on defensive operations

The Bulgarian ground forces are conducting the "Balkan 22" exercise from October 13 to 20th. It will take place at the "Koren" and "Slivnitsa" training grounds, as well as in the headquarters of formations of the Ground Forces, the Air Force and the Military Medical Academy.

More than 1,500 military personnel and 500 units of combat, special and transport equipment from the Second Mechanized Brigade and the Third Brigade Command will participate in the exercise on October 16. A defense operation on land will be practiced.

During the exercise on October 17 at the "Novo Selo" training ground, the official ceremony for Italy's assumption of the role of framework nation for the NATO battle group on the territory of Bulgaria will take place.
