Fourteen NATO countries signed a letter of intent on October 13 for the joint supply of air defense systems, Reuters reported. The allies agreed to jointly purchase the Patriot and Arrow 3 missile systems manufactured by Boeing and Israel Aerospace Industries.

The signing ceremony took place in the NATO headquarters in Brussels. The countries that signed the European Sky Shield Initiative are Germany, Great Britain, Slovakia, Norway, Latvia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, Lithuania, Netherlands, Romania and Slovenia.

German Minister of Defense Christine Lambrecht said they had not made a final decision but believed "Arrow 3 would be the right anti-aircraft system."
