Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece and Turkey will create a new organisation called the Balkan Medical League. It will meet every year in a different Balkan country on a rotating basis. The meetings will be more than once a year, interim Health Minister Dr Assen Medjidiev said at the conference "Medical Error and the Rules of Good Medical and Clinical Practice" in Sandanski.

The league will be established in March 2023 in Sofia. Other countries from the region will be invited to join, Dr Medjidiev said, adding that the idea is to exchange medical staff between the participating countries and open the doors for specializations for young doctors not only in Western Europe but also in the Balkans. "The level of healthcare in the Balkan countries is extremely high," the minister said. - The most valuable thing is that the specialists who train our doctors highly value their experience and knowledge, while here in Bulgaria we usually underestimate them."
