For a second day, the members of parliament have not been able to agree on who is to be President of the 48th National Assembly.

The winners from the 2 October snap election, the coalition GERB-SDS, and the second biggest parliamentary force, We Continue the Change both withdrew their nominations, nevertheless no agreement has been reached after none of the parties turned up for the leaders’ meeting convened by We Continue the Change to discuss the matter.

Meanwhile Vice President Iliana Iotova stated that the most important thing now was for the day to end with the election of a President of the National Assembly. “This would unblock the country and we could start working in normal mode as institutions,” she commented.
