Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the caretaker cabinet Kostadin Kodzhabashev commented, art a briefing, on the decision by the Netherlands not to support Bulgaria and Romania’s accession to the Schengen area, public service TV BNT reports. Deputy Minister Kodzhabashev stressed that Bulgaria has met all criteria, and expects its accession to the Schengen area to become a fact by the end of December.

“Bulgaria and Romania’s accession to Schengen cannot be held hostage by the domestic politics in the Netherlands where elections will be held in the spring,” President Rumen Radev said in Brussels. According to him, this is not the kind of policy that can last.
