Bulgaria’s Ministry of Energy will not submit a proposal for a double electricity tariff for household consumers, the Ministry’s press office announced.

Last week, the ministry proposed a subsidized price for energy consumption of up to 800 kWh in winter and 300 kWh in summer and regular prices for excess consumption. “On the basis of the success in ensuring the reliable operation of the country’s energy system and the double reduction in the price of gas, there is no need to introduce double electricity tariffs”, the Ministry’s statement further reads. “The caretaker cabinet shall not have household consumers enter the free electricity market”, the Ministry of Energy notes.
