Caretaker government would implement the old budget in 2023

If no regular government was formed, the caretaker cabinet would propose implementing this year's budget after January 1, Finance Minister Rositsa Velkova has told the parliament. The caretaker cabinet has no power to make policies and will keep the existing ones. The surplus in the treasury is below 500 million euros. This is not optimistic because the biggest costs are still ahead, Velkova said.

The fiscal reserve as of September 30 is over 6 billion euros, but without new loans by the end of 2022 it will fall below 2.6 billion euros, which is close to the minimum allowed.

In Bulgaria a working person needs at least 660 euros a month, while for a three-member family of two adults and a child, the sum reaches 1186 euros. The living costs have increased by 20% for a year, CITUB, which is the largest trade union in Bulgaria, reported.
