The Presidents of Bulgaria and Moldova Rumen Radev and Maia Sandu took part in an official ceremony to mark the Day of Bessarabian Bulgarians at the Gregory Tsamblak Taraclia University.

Rumen Radev pointed out that it is important that Taraclia district remain independent administratively and that this meets with understanding in Chișinău. The Bulgarian President stated further that he expects a solution to be found for the future of the university which is a spiritual centre and a symbol of the Bulgarian community in Moldova. Despite all hardships, the community has upheld its ethnic, language and cultural identity for two centuries. “Bulgaria firmly supports Moldova’s path to the EU, and the sooner the country becomes part of the union, the sooner we shall all be together in the big European family which will draw us closer and will provide even bigger opportunities for cooperation,” the
Bulgarian President said.
