The Ministry of Defence is looking for an option for extending the life of the MiG-29 aircraft by way of overhaul and/or delivery with the support of Poland, Minister of Defence in the caretaker government Dimitar Stoyanov said in parliament.

An enquiry was submitted to the Polish side at the beginning of August, regarding the purchase or repair of 6 engines. Minister Stoyanov stated further that the Polish Ministry of Defence has decided to decommission one MiG-29 airplane and prepare its engines to be sold to Bulgaria. Minister Stoyanov said further that the Defence Ministry was making efforts to provide for the training of the flight personnel at an acceptable level until the end of 2023.
