54% of university graduates work in positions that do not require higher education. Therefore, training must be linked to the labour market. It is important to build an effective education-science-business connection, Bulgaria's caretaker Minister of Education Prof. Sasho Penov stated at the presentation of the 12th edition of the rating system of the higher schools in the country.

The lowest unemployment rate below 1% is among graduates of medicine, pharmacy, military affairs and mathematics. The highest average income of 1,725 euros is received by Informatics and Computer Science university graduates.

The number of people going to study abroad has decreased and the number of foreigners coming to study in Bulgaria is increasing, Penov reported.

The largest number of students study at Sofia University "Saint Kliment Ohridski", a total of 19,999 students, followed by Plovdiv University.

The 9 largest universities educate half of Bulgaria's higher education students. In 13 higher education institutions, the number of students is below 1,000.  13% of the students study in private educational institutions where the main specialties are in the field of arts and administration.
