Russian-US talks have started in Turkey’s capital Ankara, the correspondent of the BNR in Moscow Angel Grigorov reported, referring to the Kommersant newspaper. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the information, specifying that the talks were initiated by the USA. The meeting in Ankara was not announced in advance.
Russian channels in the social network "Telegram" report that a version of peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine is being discussed at the consultations. The delegation includes the Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Rusian Federation, Sergei Naryshkin, Angel Grigorov reported.
Meanwhile, in Bali, G-20 Chair Indonesian President Joko Widodo called for unity at the bloc’s 2022 summit and said that the group must not allow the world to fall into another cold war and that the conflict must end, Reuters reported. “If the war did not end, it would be difficult for the world to move forward”, Joko Widodo said without referring directly to the war in Ukraine at his opening speech to the summit. “The world is facing crisis after crisis, exacerbating rivalries. The world is facing extraordinary challenges, whose impact is being felt very strongly on food and energy supplies. Let us show the world that we can be wise, assume responsibility and show leadership. Let us work, and let's cooperate for the world”, Joko Widodo said.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova denied Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had been taken to the hospital after suffering a health problem upon his arrival in Bali for the G20 summit. “I wish the Western journalists to be more honest than they are and write the truth a little more often”, Sergey Lavrov said in a video released by Maria Zakharova, the BNR’s correspondent in Moscow reported.
