A national fundraising campaign Bulgaria Deserves It! is collecting messages by young Bulgarians for the future.

The initiative 111 words inspired by Bulgaria is targeted at school and university students, and young people in the country and abroad. The start to the fundraising campaign was given on Enlighteners’ Day, 1 November, and the money will be spent on a 111-metre high pole for the flag of Bulgaria to be erected in the meadows of Rozhen. And in the foundations of the flagpole the messages will be sealed in a time capsule for 111 years.

The number 111 is a reminder of the territory of Bulgaria, which is 111,000 sq. kms., and the initiative to raise the impressive flagpole belongs to the Heritage in the Future foundation. The Bulgaria Deserves It! campaign is taking place under the patronage of President Rumen Radev. The idea is for the flagpole to be the tallest in the EU. It will be raised at a height of 1,430 m., with a diameter of 3 m. at its base and 0.75 m. at the top. The flag itself will be 25 by 40 m.
