130 years since the birth of the legendary Bulgarian wrestler Dan Kolov

Today in the village of Sennik, Sevlievo municipality, the 130th anniversary of the birth of Bulgarian wrestler Doncho Kolev Denev, known as Dan Kolov (Dan Koloff), will be celebrated. Flowers will be placed in front of the wrestler's monument in the village, informs the municipality. 
Born on December 26, 1892, Dan Kolov came to the United States in 1909. He was engaged in hard physical labor, and he devoted his free time to non-professional wrestling. 

His professional sports career started late – in 1917, when he was already 25 years old. He successfully developed in professional wrestling in the USA. 

In 1936, Dan Kolov took the European championship title and the diamond belt from the Frenchman Henri Deglain, becoming Bulgaria's first European champion in freestyle wrestling.
