No Bulgarians were injured after a freight train transporting ammonia in Serbia derailed causing a leak, Deputy Minister of Transport Krasimir Papukchiiski has told BNT.

The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry recommends avoiding visits to Pirot in the next few days, where a state of emergency has been declared. Bulgarian citizens who need assistance can contact the Consulate General in Nis as the phone number is 00381668408062.

The company "Serbia Cargo" announced that a freight train, which runs daily on the Nis-Dimitrovgrad section of the rail and transports raw materials from Bulgaria to Prahovo and Sabac, derailed. AFP informs that chemical materials from Bulgaria were transported. A Serbian team of train drivers replaced the Bulgarian team at the Dragoman-Tsaribrod border checkpoint and the train was in perfect technical condition, it was reported. Three of the ammonia tanks overturned in the accident. A serious leak occurred in one of them that fell into the Nishava River, Papukchiiski summarized.
