The Bulgarian military research ship "Sts. Cyril and Methodius" starts its journey from the port of Varna to Antarctica on December 27.

The commander of the ship is Capt. Nikolai Danailov. The ship and its crew of 26 people is expected to welcome the New Year in the Mediterranean. According to Capt. Danailov, the celebration will be without wine because the vessel is a military one and drinking alcohol on board is not allowed.

The voyage to the Bulgarian Arctic base on Livingston Island will take about 40 days.
