About 80 children from areas of military conflict in Ukraine arrived by bus at the Danube Bridge checkpoint near Bulgaria's Ruse. They are from socially vulnerable groups and need psychological rehabilitation.

They will be accommodated in the military recreation complex in the village of Ribaritsa, Lovech region, said the chairman of the State Agency for Refugees, Mariana Tosheva, quoted by BTA.

According to the director of the Social Assistance Directorate in Ruse, Detelina Mateva, some of the children are orphans or their parents are fighting at the front. Others were injured in shelling and received treatment in Ukraine, while others suffered psychological trauma in the military attacks.

The children are mainly from Kherson, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

At the moment, the Ukrainian citizens accommodated with temporary protection under the humanitarian assistance program in Bulgaria are a little under 10,000 and Ukrainian refugees residing in Bulgaria are over 50,000, according to the Bulgaria for Ukraine portal.
