The parties, represented in parliament, made political declarations at the first sitting of the National Assembly for 2023.

GERB believe that when the government on their mandate was rejected, a serious opportunity was missed to resolve the political crisis. “We are hoping that during this session we shall see the beginning of the end of political innovations. Political innovations are at the basis of the deep instability in Bulgarian society,” said Toma Bikov from GERB and called for the construction of a government on the third mandate “tailored to realities, not dreams and hopes”.

On behalf of We Continue the Change, premier designate Nikolai Denkov, who was handed the second mandate for the formation of a cabinet stated, that the 48th National Assembly can survive only if it elects a regular government. He urged his opponents to explain how they imagine the fulfilment of the third mandate for the formation of a government.

The leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms Mustafa Karadayi stated that Bulgaria needs a regular government, and that the lack of public trust in politicians and in parliament is not something that can be resolved by early elections.

Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Korneliya Ninova called for guaranteeing political stability first by forming a regular government, for careful consideration of the conditions for Bulgaria’s entry into the Eurozone, and for Bulgaria not to get involved in the war in Ukraine.

The leader of Vazrazhdane Kostadin Kostadinov stated that signatures will be collected, as of 11 January, for holding a referendum against the adoption of the euro.

The leader of Democratic Bulgaria Hristo Ivanov called on parliament to approve a government that will be able to put through reforms.

Stefan Yanev, leader of Bulgarian Rise also declared that a government should be formed.
