The contract with the company that was in charge of the disinfection at Kapitan Andrevo BCP has been terminated. This was announced by Minister of Agriculture Yavor Gechev after an inspection at the checkpoint.

Currently, the situation at the border crossing is under control and there are no queues of trucks. The Minister announced that a state-owned company will be appointed in charge of the disinfection of vehicles at the border crossing. The future company will be under the control of several institutions and ministries. "The aim is for the state to manage the process. This is also the wish of President Rumen Radev," he explained.

An inspection carried out in the summer of 2022 showed that over the years tens of millions of leva have been diverted under dubious circumstances to private companies carrying out disinfection and sanitary control at the border with Turkey. The state then vowed to take back control of the border.
