Prosecutor's Office investigates former minister of interior for suspected money laundering

Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has launched a probe into an alert from a representative of an online media against a former interior minister and current member of the 48th National Assembly. The former minister allegedly ordered his subordinates not to report to the Prosecutor's Office, the State Agency for National Security (SANS) and the Commission for Combating Corruption and Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property about materials under a file for suspicious financial transactions from a non-EU country to a personal account in Bulgarian bank. According to the alert, the former minister was complicit with crimes against the financial system (money laundering), the Prosecutor's Office said.
