A problem with Bulgarian tourists in Mexico has been referred by the "Future for Tourism" Association to Bulgaria's Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Bulgaria in Mexico and the Honorary Consul of Mexico in Bulgaria.

Since the beginning of October, 25 organized tourists, who had all the necessary documents for the territory of Mexico and purchased a tourist package, were turned back after the plane landed in Cancun, the association said.

According to what the Bulgarian tourists understood from the explanations in Spanish of the local authorities, they were accused of not having a paid reservation for accommodation in Mexico and of being potential emigrants.

Some of the detainees were kept in a cell for 4 days with their mobile phones confiscated. "We are talking about persons who travel a lot and who have paid a minimum of 2,000 euros per person for their "vacation", which has turned into a nightmare," the association states.

The luggage of some of the returned tourists has been lost and has not been recovered, states "Future of Tourism" and insists on the decisive intervention of the Bulgarian diplomats, said Pekanov.
