Government approves derogation for export of Russian crude oil products to Ukraine

The caretaker government adopted a decision approving Bulgaria's exemption from the EU Council Regulation concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia's actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine.
As of 5 February 2023, exports of petroleum products to Ukraine as well as exports to third countries of certain refined petroleum products derived from Russian crude oil imported on the basis of the derogation obtained are allowed.
The government specifies that this is necessary to limit environmental and safety risks as such products cannot be safely stored on the territory of the country.
