Minister of the Interior: Paper ballot will lead to more vote buying

Vote-buying practices will worsen in upcoming parliamentary elections due to the reintroduction of paper ballots, says caretaker Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev.

The National Assembly cancelled all machine voting and brought back the possibility of voting with paper ballots. "Since paper ballots have been restored, the practice of distorting election results will now be restored.

Our main task is to counter vote buying, corporate voting and all forms of vote rigging that we knew before the introduction of fully machine voting," Minister Demerdzhiev said from Skopje. He assured that his ministry has outlined actions that "will be elaborated" and voiced hope that there would be enough time for this.
