The Bulgarian diplomatic representations in Turkey are in contact with the local authorities. Contact is also maintained with representatives of the local emigrant community, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

According to local Bulgarians, a man with Bulgarian and Turkish citizenship, living in the city of Iskenderun, is missing after the building he lived in was destroyed by the earthquake. "This information is currently being checked and confirmation is awaited," Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev told BNT. According to him, there are currently no reports of other injured Bulgarians. Demerdzhiev pointed out that Bulgaria was one of the first European countries to provide aid of Turkey.

Ibrahim Yilmaz told the BNR about the situation in Adana and the ongoing aftershocks: "In Adana we are calm now, but we are on the street. We cannot enter the houses because the tremors continue. It is calmer here than in the eastern cities, but we cannot go inside. It was a big earthquake that took place at 4:17 in the morning. We ran out into the street at dawn. Many people will spend the night in their cars."
