Protecting the EU's external borders is a common commitment and should be a priority for all European countries, said President Rumen Radev, who today spoke with members of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group in the European Parliament, the head of state's press office reported.

According to Radev, the expansion of connectivity within the EU is of key importance for dealing with the economic and energy crisis and for preventing the aggravation of inequalities between individual member states. The strengthening of support for the countries on the front line, subjected to the heaviest migratory pressure, guarantees the security of all member states, the head of state emphasized and called for the admission of Bulgaria and Romania to Schengen based on the established criteria.
