Average salary in Bulgaria in last quarter of 2022 estimated at EUR 1,000

Compared to the third quarter of 2022, the average monthly salary increased by 7.8 percent in the fourth quarter of 2022 and reached BGN 1,879, BTA reported. 

According to preliminary data of NSI, compared to the previous year 2021, the increase for the same period was 16.6 percent. The largest increase in one year was registered in the following spheres: Agriculture, forestry and fisheries - by 23.4 percent, Production and distribution of electric and thermal energy and gaseous fuels - by 23.1 percent, and Other activities - with 22.1 percent. 

The highest salaries are in the sectors: Creation and dissemination of information and creative products; Telecommunications - BGN 4,417; Production and distribution of electric and thermal energy and gaseous fuels - BGN 2,934; Financial and insurance activities - BGN 2,853.

The lowest salaries are of those employed in the hotel and restaurant industry - BGN 1,088;

In one year for the same period, the average minimum wage in the public sector increased by 13.5 percent, and in the private sector - by 17.7 percent.
