Number of weddings during marriage week down compared to previous year

The number of weddings in Sofia during marriage week (7-14 February) this year is 19, versus 54 last year, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports. Still, the number of weddings during the 1 January-14 February, 2023 period is 271.

According to Eurostat data, the number of marriages in Bulgaria at the end of 2019 has gone up by 37% as compared to 2013 when the country was bottom of the list of EU countries. The share of divorces remains unaltered, with one-third of marriages ending in divorce.
