The caretaker government will propose an ambassador of Bulgaria to NATO

Bulgaria's caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Milkov stated in response to a question of BNR that he will make a proposal to the President for the appointment of an ambassador to NATO. "I was also asked this question by the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy. I told them then that these are important appointments and at this stage the interim government prefers not to propose to the president, but that they be made by the regular government. At the same time, I said that "if the parliament fails to produce a regular government, it is possible that the caretaker government will make such a decision. In this regard, I am thinking of taking steps before the president now to appoint an ambassador at least to NATO," said Milkov, but refused to name specific names.

Bulgaria has not had a permanent representative in the Pact for nearly a year, when Bulgaria's then representative in the Alliance Dragomir Zakov accepted the offer of former Prime Minister Kiril Petkov to head the Ministry of Defense.
