Poland to send four MiG-29s to Ukraine

Poland will supply Ukraine with an initial batch of four MiG-29 fighter jets, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced. According to him, this will happen in the next few days, and the plan is for the country to receive a total of 12 planes later. On the occasion of Poland's decision, the spokesman of the National Security Council at the White House, John Kirby, commented that the American position of not sending combat aircraft to Kyiv remains unchanged.

Meanwhile, Latvia announced another 70 million euros in aid to Ukraine, Belgium - 240 military trucks, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz declared that they would support the country as long as it is needed with money and weapons.

The United States has seen signs that Russia may be trying to retrieve the wreckage of a US drone that crashed into the Black Sea after being intercepted by a Russian jet. Russian ships have been spotted in the area, but so far there is no confirmed information about recovered debris. All data was remotely wiped before the strike, Washington said. The Pentagon also released video footage of the incident. The 40-second Pentagon video shows a Russian Su-27 approach the drone and dump fuel to damage it. The loss of signal comes after another maneuver by a Russian aircraft, which the US military says ended in a collision. However, the Kremlin denies the physical contact and claims that the drone fell after a too sharp maneuver.

In a telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, Chinese Foreign Minister Qing Gan expressed concerns about a possible escalation of the war in Ukraine and called on Kyiv and Moscow to hold peace talks, the Chinese Foreign Ministry reports. He also said that China hopes that the two sides will not close the door to the possibility of finding a political solution.

For his part, Dmytro Kuleba said that he and Qing Gan discussed the importance of the principle of territorial integrity. "I emphasized the importance of the peace formula (proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky - note ed.) to end aggression and restore peace in Ukraine," he wrote on Twitter.
