Grain producers to protest at border with Romania

The National Association of Grain Producers announced there will be protests at the border points near Ruse and Kardam on Friday, April 7. The protest actions of the Bulgarian grain producers are coordinated with farmers' organizations from Romania, who will hold parallel protests.

Protesters say that the validity of the EU regulation on duty-free imports of agricultural goods from Ukraine should not be extended for Bulgaria and Romania, without the introduction of protective clauses and mechanisms that provide an opportunity to regulate excessive flows of agricultural products. These could be quotas, anti-dumping duties and deposit charges on imports.
