The average age of MPs in the new 49th Parliament is 46. Women occupy 58 of the 240 seats - the same number as in the previous 48th National Assembly. The oldest deputy is Vezhdi Rashidov, 71, from GERB. The youngest deputy, Georgi Krastev, was born in 1999 and is also from GERB-SDS.

The veteran with the most mandates as a deputy is Ramadan Atalay from the MRF. This is his 12th consecutive mandate since 1997. The first-time deputies are mostly from Vazrazhdane - 11.

Unlike other parliaments where there have been many medics, this time there are only five medical doctors and three psychologists. Lawyers and economists make up the largest proportion. Among the MPs there are political scientists, archaeologists, historians and journalists. The one with the most original profession is Jenal Topalova-Yashar, a wedding planner who actually got married herself during the election campaign.
