In March, the annual inflation rate in Bulgaria slowed down, reaching a 12-month low of 14%, as compared to 16% in February, the National Statistical Institute has reported.

In two-thirds of the regions of the country, unemployment has gone up in 2022, registering a 14.1% high in Vidin, versus an average of 3.9% nationally. 264,000 is the number of newly registered unemployed at job centres during the year, with 1 in 4 being long-term unemployed.

In 2022, the annual total income average per household member was 9,008 Leva (EUR 4,580), which is a 16.9% increase compared to 2021, but due to the high inflation rate the real household income has only gone up by 1.4% in 2022. Over one year, family expenses have gone up by 19.1%.
