The ideal holiday destination for British tourists turns out to be “a largely unexplored” Eastern European country that is a cheaper alternative to Spain. This is what we learn from an article of the British media outlet "Express", referring to a survey conducted by the famous portal for leisure and tourism Loveholidays.

The article quotes Loveholidays chief marketing officer, Al Murray, as saying: “Bulgaria has a range of mountains, rivers and lakes for intrepid travellers but remains largely unexplored, making it an ideal destination in eastern Europe for the more adventurous holidaymaker. It's clear lakes and UNESCO heritage sites make it the perfect country to explore without the crowds, and its scenic coastline offers travellers expanses of untouched beaches which are much less touristy than the Mediterranean alternatives.”

“The Balkan country boasts Black Sea beaches, mountains and rivers, making it the perfect place to explore,” the article also reads. British tourists can fly to Bulgaria in less than four hours as there are a number of cheap direct flights from UK to the country. Those wishing to relax on the beach can choose the popular resort of Sunny Beach that  provides various opportunities for sports and entertainment. Sunny Beach is also famous for its nightlife and British tourists will find cheaper beer in Bulgaria in comparison to other famous party destinations.

Tourists interested in culture could visit the nearby town of Nessebar, where one can see ancient ruins and check out the interesting Archaeological Museum.

But Bulgaria does not offer just beaches. Tourists will soon find out that the Balkan country offers much more to tourists who want to explore. In the capital city of Sofia, one can visit the emblematic Alexander Nevsky Cathedral or feel the pulse of city life on Vitosha Boulevard. According to “Express”, one of Sofia’s leading attractions is the Museum of Illusions, where guests can take unbelievable photos for their Instagram.

The article also recommends that the British tourists should visit Plovdiv, one of the cultural hubs in Bulgaria, with its creative district "Kapana", as well as to check out the light and music show in Tsar Simeon’s Garden.
