After the leadership meeting between GERB/SDS and We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria held today, it transpired that the two sides are not close to reaching a consensus.

Instead of working on a joint government programme, the second biggest political force in parliament We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria are working on their own programme with a limited duration – 18 months. This was announced by the only representative of We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria to have turned up for the meeting – Nikolay Denkov – while GERB/SDS was represented by their entire parliamentary group. GERB/SDS set a condition – that they be given the structure and the names of a Council of Ministers by the end of the week.

“If this doesn’t happen within the prescribed period, we shall have every reason to believe that We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria are not serious about forming a joint majority and government,” said Desislava Atanasova, chair of the GERB/SDS parliamentary group.
