From 29 April until 1 May, carpet weavers from Chiprovtsi will be taking their looms to the town square to give demonstrations showing how the famed Chiprovtsi carpets are made.

Recognized by UNESCO as part of the world cultural heritage, these carpets are famed around the world for their geometric figures of people, animals and birds in bright colours. The festival will also feature the initiative “Finish off the painting” started by an artist. The organizers are also planning a competition for children’s drawings with Chiprovtsi carpet motifs, as well as an international chess contest for the cup of Chiprovtsi municipality.
