Veselin Topalov won a victory in the third round and drew in the fourth round of the round-robin tournament “Craddle of Modern Chess” in the Spanish city of Salamanca.
Topalov played versus Kirill Alekseenko (Russia) and Jaime Santos Latasa (Spain). The former world champion scored a victory against the Russian chess player with the black pieces and drew versus the Spanish player with the white pieces. Topalov ranks first in the standings, followed by Latasa and Alekseenko.
