The European Commission and the European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi have condemned the attempted assassination of Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev. The two institutions expect our authorities to do everything necessary to quickly and decisively bring the guilty ones to justice.
"At this stage, we cannot speculate about the motives behind this criminal act," EC spokeswoman Anitta Hipper said.

For her part, Laura Kövesi commented: "I believe that the Bulgarian police forces, prosecutors and judges will take all necessary measures to protect the rule of law and the independence of the judicial system and will not spare their efforts until full light is shed on what happened and who is responsible.”
