North Macedonia refusing entry to an MEP is confrontation with European institutions

Photo: library

The topic of why North Macedonian authorities refused entry to Bulgarian MEP Andrey Kovatchev to the country will be discussed in the plenary hall of the European Parliament.

Kovatchev together with the chairman of the "Bulgarian Memory" Foundation, Milen Vrabevski, and three other Bulgarians tried to reach Novo Selo to attend the memorial service for the Bulgarian soldiers who died in the battles for national unification but were stopped at the border.

The MEP told BNR that the Republic of North Macedonia crossed a red line that it must not cross if it really aimed at European integration. "This is no longer a confrontation with Bulgaria, but with the European institutions. The resolution on North Macedonia is currently being debated and this incident will be included in it," he added.
