Today, May 12, the Spoluka mine in the town of Madan in the Rhodope Mountain will be officially opened as a site for mining tourism, the municipal administration announced.

The Spoluka Underground Mining Museum is the only one of its kind in the Balkans and will now be available for tourist visits, presenting the history of mining in the region.

The galleries of the "Spoluka" mine have been turned into an underground mining museum under a project financed by the Interreg V-A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 cross-border cooperation program.
According to the project, the reconstruction of the Crystal Hall "Rhodope Crystal" in the town was also carried out.

For two days, May 12 and 13, the Madan Crystal Days will be organized in the mining town, where an exhibition will be presented with collections of crystals extracted from the Madan mines.
