“Who the prosecutor general of Bulgaria is should not be at the centre of the debate on the judicial reform,” caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev told reporters in a comment on the proposal by six members of the Supreme Judicial Council’s prosecutors’ college for the early removal from office of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, and went on to stress that a pertinent issue is the legitimacy of the Supreme Judicial Council.
According to Galab Donev, the judicial reform should be regarded as a comprehensive process that goes beyond simply replacing the prosecutor general.
