Guaranteeing human rights cannot be done only through documents. Any violation must be met with a firm stance and decisive action, said Vice President Iliana Iotova, who represented Bulgaria at the Fourth Council of Europe Summit on 16-17 May in Reykjavik. The leaders of 46 countries are in the capital of Iceland to reaffirm their common commitment to the Council of Europe’s core values of democracy, rule of law and human rights.

"Europe is living from crisis to crisis. This is leading to even greater divisions in societies, inequalities are increasing, people are more and more opposed to each other,," Iotova said. She informed the participants in the forum about the systematic violation of the rights of Bulgarians in North Macedonia.
