Solar power accounts for nearly 20% of the electricity currently produced in Bulgaria, while the total production from renewable energy sources is about one-third. This is according to data from the Bulgarian Electricity System Operator and the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange, BNR's Yuliana Kornazeva reports.

Despite the fact that one unit of Kozloduy NPP is shut down for planned repairs, the plant produces about 40% of the country's electricity. The remaining amounts are shared more or less equally between the thermal and hydro power plants.
