Democratic Bulgaria co-chair Hristo Ivanov called, in parliament, for the reconstruction of the parliamentary committee on constitutional affairs, to which Movement for Rights and Freedoms MP Delyan Peevski was elected.

The deputy chair of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms parliamentary group Jordan Tzonev replied they would not reconsider Peevski’s membership of the committee, because Delyan Peevski had drawn up the movement’s proposals for amendments to the constitution.

“Mr. Ivanov must understand – it is our right to decide who will take part in the committee, and if they want to put through a constitutional reform, that is how it is going to be. They cannot pass moral judgement on anyone,” Delyan Peevski commented in parliament.

Delyan Peevski is under US sanctions under the Global Magnitsky Act.
