The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) has submitted to the National Assembly a draft proposal for lifting the immunity of GERB leader Boyko Borissov. This was announced by party leader Kornelia Ninova.
The Socialists said they had tried to get acquainted with the documents presented by Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev as grounds for requesting the immunity of former Prime Minister Borissov. It turned out that the rules are more complicated and require written permission from the parliament speaker, although the documents are not classified. According to Ninova, the purpose of the BSP's actions was to enable Borissov to prove his claims of innocence in the money laundering investigation known as "Barcelonnadgate".
