Minister of War Todor Tagarev announced the rearmament of the Land Forces as his top priority.

"Many investments have been made over the years, mainly in the Air Force, we have a project for the construction of two naval patrol vessels, some investments have been made in the special forces, but the rearmament of the ground forces is lagging behind significantly," he told BNR.

The minister said the review of the defence investment programme would not delay the start of some of the major projects. Todor Tagarev also refuted the "propaganda disinformation thesis" that Bulgarian troops will be sent to participate in the war in Ukraine.
