Today, June 21, is the premiere of the book "The Cretaceous Evolution of Livingstone Island, Antarctica" by Bulgarian polar researcher Prof. Hristo Pimpirev. The Bulgarian Antarctic Institute (BAI) has announced that the presentation is from 6:00 p.m., in the new conference hall at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".

30 years ago, during the independent Bulgarian Antarctic expedition in the astral summer of 1993-1994, targeted research began on Livingston Island where the Bulgarian polar base "St. Kliment Ohridski" is located. Until then, explorations had been isolated, by field camps of British, Argentine, Chilean, Polish and Spanish geologists. In his book, Prof. Pimpirev summarizes the synthesized data on the stratigraphy and geological evolution of Livingstone Island during the Cretaceous period.

Prof. Dr. Hristo Pimpirev is a professor of geology at Saint Kliment Ohridski University, a famous scientist and polar explorer. He is the founder and chairman of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, director of the National Centre for Polar Research. He has been the leader of 31 national Antarctic expeditions. He is the author of ten books, eight documentaries and over 250 scientific publications.

Pimpirev was the first Bulgarian to place the national flag at the South Pole, on January 8, 2013.
