At a briefing, Minister of Defence Todor Tagarev presented his team and the priorities of the ministry. The first priority is building a combat-capable army. Other highlights of the ministry’s work include having highly capable staff and reserve, as well as rearming. "This level of staffing of the reserve of 15% showed that it is not working," the minister pointed out. Another priority is providing aid to Ukraine, "because this is the way we can permanently guarantee stability in the region".

Asked about the aid that will be provided to Ukraine, Minister Tagarev replied that there has been a decision on this by the Council of Ministers but the list is confidential. However, he pointed out that the country will not provide aircraft and heavy armored vehicles.

2% of GDP should be the minimum when it comes to financing the army in order to build modern defence capabilities, Tagarev also said.
