MPs from PP-DB and GERB-SDS jointly submitted a draft for amendments to the Family Code. The changes envisage facilitating access to information on the origin of adopted persons, disclosure of the so-called "secrecy of adoption", and severely restricting the possibilities of renouncing adoption.

"For us, it is important that the child has the right to learn abot his or her biological origin. Of course, we are not only talking about children here, we are also talking about adults," commented Denitsa Sacheva from GERB-SDS.

In order to stimulate adoptions, the proponents propose the creation of a national electronic system that would bring together data from all over Bulgaria so that people who want to adopt children can find the most suitable child as quickly as possible.
