The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has halted the procedure for the election of a new prosecutor general until the closure of the case at the Constitutional Court.
The procedure will be resumed after the Constitutional Court gives judgement on the request filed by former Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev for declaring several provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code unconstitutional, including the reduced majority in the SJC needed for the election and dismissal of the prosecutor general.
