Tonight Vasilena Serafimova will take the audience of the Solinaria Youth Arts Festival into the realm of percussion with her original project.

Vassilena Serafimova was born in Pleven into a family of musicians. It was in her early childhood when her parents discovered that she had musical talent. Her father, Simeon Serafimov, introduced her to playing percussion instruments and at the age of seven she became his student. In 2004 she graduated from the National School of Arts "Panayot Pipkov" with honors. Vassilena continued her studies in France. In 2011/2012 she specialized at The Juillard School in New York.

Winner of a number of prestigious international and national awards, Vassilena Serafimova performs frequently on Bulgarian stages, often times with French pianist Thomas Enhco.

In the "Song of the Day" section we bring you their variations on the Bulgarian folk song "Dilmano, Dilbero".

"Dilmano, Dilbero" talks about planting pepper in the ground and has an encoded sexual meaning. It is a ritual song performed on the first night of marriage.
