President asks for protection for Bulgarians on 'Peacekeeper's' sinister list

Commenting on the death threat made against Defence Minister Todor Tagarev, President Rumen Radev said he was against murder threats directed against any Bulgarian citizen. He then raised the issue of a number of Bulgarians included in the list of the "enemies of Ukraine" on the Ukrainian website "Myrotvorets" ("Peacemaker").  "When there was a threat against Hristo Grozev (Bulgarian investigative journalist from the Bellingcat website, author of the film "Navalny"), the state immediately activated all services, all our partners to ensure the safety of the Bulgarian citizen. I expect the Bulgarian government to finally take a stand on this case," Radev said.

Among the Bulgarians named on the website are MEPs Prof. Dr. Ivo Hristov and Elena Yoncheva, journalist Velislava Dareva, Ataka leader Volen Siderov, analyst Assoc. Prof. Dr. Valentin Vatsev and others.

"Myrotvorets" became notorious in 2015 when Ukrainian opposition journalist Oles Buzina and lawmaker Oleg Kalashnikov, both identified by their personal details on the website, were killed in bomb attacks. Other individuals on the list later became victims of assassinations. After their deaths, a diagonal caption in red appeared on their photos, saying, "Liquidated," the website of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists notes, calling for protection of the Bulgarian journalists on the list.
